Welt shoes and footwear from New Zealand.
The
Goodyear welt shoes have long been recognised as a standard of quality.
The welt process has not changed in basic principle for more than two
hundred years. The Goodyear welt construction takes its name form Charles
Goodyear Jnr, son of the famous discoverer of the rubber vulcanizing
process. The younger Goodyear developed the first commercially successful
machine which could duplicate the complex motions of the human hand
in sewing the welt to the shoe bottoms. Stones Shoes stock Barker and
Loake welted footwear made in England.
